#GOALS Week 1

#SquadGoals
Philippians 3:12-14
Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Goals
We all have Goals (kept or otherwise)
Do We have the Right Goals?
Building the Right House on the Wrong Foundation
(Luke 6:47-49 - Two Houses) - Jesus Never Criticized the House
The Right Goals Require Appropriate Planning

Running the Race in the Wrong Direction
(I Corinthians 9:24 - Everyone Runs, Not Everyone Wins)
The Right Goals Require Training and Strategy

Walking the Path with the Wrong Destination
(Matthew 7:13-14 - Broad and Wide/Small and Narrow)
                The Right Goals Require Accuracy

Working at Peak Efficiency with the Wrong Inspiration
(Matthew 6:19-21 - Treasures on Earth/Treasures in Heaven)
                The Right Goals Require Perspective

Paul Had Goals (Philippians 3:5-6)

Philippians 3:7 But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ

Squad Goals
#SquadGoals - (skwäd/ɡōl) (noun) (plural noun: squad goals): an aspirational term for what you'd like your group of friends to be or accomplish.

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the LORD seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the LORD.”
Psalm 103:17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children--
Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way (I am the way - Jesus) he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

The Power of Blessing
Numbers 6:22-27 22 The Lord said to Moses,                                                                                             23 “Tell Aaron and his sons, ‘This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them:                                                                24 ‘“The Lord bless you and keep you;                                                                                           25 the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you;                                                  26 the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.” ’                                                         27 “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”

Aaron (High Priest) Jesus
Hebrews 4:15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
Sons (Priest) Us
I Peter 2:9 But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God's special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Parents Bless Children
Matthew 3:16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. 17 And a voice from heaven said, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”

Deuteronomy 11:18 Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them  as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 19 Teach them to  your children, talking about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 20 Write them on the door frames of your houses and on your gates, 21so that your days and the days of  your children may be many in the land the Lord swore to give your ancestors, as many as the days that the heavens are above the earth.

Children Bless Their Parents
Deuteronomy 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you     in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

Husbands and Wives Bless Each Other
Ephesians 5:33 …each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

The Ultimate Power of the Blessing
Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,
