Finding Favor

Storytellers II - Finding Favor

Hebrews 11:7 By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn’t see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God.

Faith

Hebrews 11:1 Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will actually happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see.

  • is a substance
    • where does this substance come from

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.

  • by hearing
    • how do we hear
      • by the word of God

Hebrews 11:6 And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.

Noah

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found favor with the Lord

Favor - Demonstrated Delight

God’s Favor was Demonstrated towards Noah when His Faith in God allowed him to stand out in a crowd of the wicked.

God’s Favor can be Demonstrated in the Midst of Judgement

Favor is Found

Are you searching for God’s favor, or waiting for it to find you?

Are you busy seeking God or seeking answers?

Matthew 6:31b-33 ’What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ 32These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. 33Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.

    Do the Legwork

God gave Noah the vision, but Noah had to build the boat; do the Legwork

Finding Favor is as much about the Motivation as the End Result.

The result? His family was saved.

“Stick to gods plan for your life. The ark was built by amateurs. The titanic was built by experts. What God builds floats." - Pastor Choco de Jesus

Hebrews 11:7b (He) was warned about something he couldn’t see…By faith, he acted on what he was told.

A Measure of Faith

Romans 12:3 - a measure of faith

This “faith” is the gift from which all the other gifts flow.

Faith is the first gift we receive (for justification), and faith is the gift that brings the other gifts of the Spirit into our lives.

When a person is born again, God gives him gifts as a new member of the family of God.

The ability in which you can use your faith directly determines the effectiveness you can operate in your gifting.

Matthew 17:20 ”I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it would move. Nothing would be impossible."
