JUDGES 6:14-19

14 Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go with the strength you have, and rescue Israel from the Midianites. I am sending you!” 15 “But Lord,” Gideon replied, “how can I rescue Israel? My clan is the weakest in the whole tribe of Manasseh, and I am the least in my entire family!” 16 The Lord said to him, “I will be with you. And you will destroy the Midianites as if you were fighting against one man.” 17 Gideon replied, “If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me. 18 Don’t go away until I come back and bring my offering to you.” He answered, “I will stay here until you return.”19 Gideon hurried home. He cooked a young goat, and with a basket of flour he baked some bread without yeast. Then, carrying the meat in a basket and the broth in a pot, he brought them out and presented them to the angel, who was under the great tree.

When you operate in fear, you work twice as hard for half the results.

An excuse is just a lie wrapped up in an explanation.

Go in the strength you have.

God always calls the busy.

God waited on Gideon to do what he could do in his own strength before God stepped in.

1. Moving To The Next Level

Why should God give me greater things when I don’t take care of the small things? 

The Lord uses smaller tasks to prepare us for greater challenges.

HEBREWS 5:12 You have been believers so long now that you ought to be teaching others. Instead, you need someone to teach you again the basic things about God’s word. You are like babies who need milk and cannot eat solid food.

Maturity comes when we stop complaining and making excuses in life and do what we can.

2. God Placed Potential

Church has become our winepress.

His plan for us includes an overall purpose as well as the potential to accomplish it.

LUKE 22:27 Who is more important, the one who sits at the table or the one who serves? The one who sits at the table, of course. But not here! For I am among you as one who serves.

ROMANS 12:11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the Lord enthusiastically.

Serving God isn’t rocket science or divine revelation. It is seeing a need and meeting a need.

2 TIMOTHY 2:15-16 15 Work hard so you can present yourself to God and receive his approval. Be a good worker, one who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly explains the word of truth. 16 Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.

Idle people are nitpickers; fellow workers are constructive

God sees our potential long before we do.

3. The Lord Is For You

PHILLIPPIANS 4:13 I am able to do all things through the one who strengthens me.

When we walk obediently with Him, His power and presence assures our victory.

JUDGES 6:17-18 17 Gideon replied, “If you are truly going to help me, show me a sign to prove that it is really the Lord speaking to me. 18 Don’t go away until I come back and bring my offering to you.” He answered, “I will stay here until you return.”

The supernatural always follows obedience.

God desires to use you in extraordinary ways to expand the kingdom.

Stop focusing on who you think you are and focus on who God says you are!

JUDGES 6:23-24 23 “It is all right,” the Lord replied. “Do not be afraid. You will not die.” 24 And Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it Yahweh-Shalom (which means “the Lord is peace”). The altar remains in Ophrah in the land of the clan of Abiezer to this day.

Victory lies on the other side of your response.
